The Verkhovna Rada registered a bill on amendments to the law on the legalization of gambling activities

People's deputy Oleh Marusiak submitted a bill № 4351 on amendments to the law on the legalization of gambling, adopted in the summer of 2020. According to the document, it is proposed to exclude part 3 of Article 7 from the normative legal act, which, among other things, states that the head and members of the authorized body are appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers based on the results of a competitive selection.

This bill intends to eliminate technical errors and conflicting norms in the law. The elimination of conflicts from the document will make it possible to form a regulatory body, start licensing of the gambling business and improve the process of regulation.

The final version of the law legalizing the organization of gambling in the country contains conflicting norms regarding the establishment of the members of regulatory body.

Ukrainian national poker team won gold medals at the Nations Cup

The ceremony of awarding the Ukrainian national poker team took place in Kyiv at NSC Olimpiyskiy. Event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Matviy Bidnyi, head of Ukrainian Sports Poker Federation Serhiy Yefimenko and Marketing Director at PokerMatch Ihor Terebinov.

Ukrainian poker players won the title of world champions to take home gold medals. Also, each member of the national team received a cash prize from the title sponsor – PokerMatch.

The Sports Poker Nations Cup took place in the summer of 2020. Due to the quarantine restrictions, the championship was held online. For the Ukrainian team, this victory was the second in the short history of team existence. They won their first champion trophy in 2019.

Gambling regulator in the Netherlands has published requirements for gambling operators

According to Login Casino online portal, the regulator Kansspelautoriteit has published a draft of rules containing a number of requirements for companies applying for a license. It will provide the right to operate in an online segment of the gambling market.

The document notes that potential licensees will have to submit data on promoted products, as well as information about software providers and technical solutions involved to offer services to Dutch players. However, these requirements may be changed in the future.

In addition, the draft rules indicate that companies that have previously been present on the Dutch gambling market will be able to obtain a license again, but on condition of adhering to a number of rules.

Seventh online casino launched in Switzerland

On November 16, Geneva-based gambling establishment Casino du Lac launched an online casino with its Pasino.ch website. The new platform offers a wide selection of online slots and table games from global providers like NetEnt, LeoVegas, Red Tiger, etc.

This online casino has become the seventh gambling establishment in Switzerland to officially launch in the country following the adoption of new amendments to the gambling law.

According to the current legislation, only 21 land-based casinos are allowed to organize online gambling. At the same time, they can start working in the online segment of the market in cooperation with international operators.

UK to set maximum betting volume for online gambling

The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has proposed to impose a limitation that would prohibit customers of online operators to spend more than £100 per month. Such measures are aimed at minimization of damage from participating in the gambling activities. Public consultations on the issue are already underway.

UKGC Executive Director Tim Miller noted that some online service providers are currently improving their customer experience. However, they do not set limits on the amount of bets and do not take appropriate actions when they identify risks and potential damage.

Previously, the maximum betting amount has been set in Great Britain for FOBT terminals that are located at betting shops. The limit comprised £2.
